Services per professional with different prices

Updated on Friday 22 May 2026

How to assign a service to specific professionals and apply custom prices or durations per person.

At most businesses, every professional charges the same for a service. But sometimes they don’t — a senior colorist charges more than a junior one for the same haircut, or a veteran nail tech does gels in 45 minutes when others take 60. Citauno lets you set prices and durations specific to each professional without having to create duplicate services.

When to use specific prices or durations

Situation Solution
One colorist charges PYG 200,000 for a cut, another charges PYG 150,000 Price per professional
A senior professional does a manicure in 45 min, another in 60 min Duration per professional
Only the owner does an advanced treatment Selective assignment (just them)
Everyone charges and takes the same Default setup, nothing to do

Step 1: assign the service to specific professionals

  1. Go to Services and edit the service you want to differentiate.
  2. In the Professionals section, switch the toggle from “All professionals” to “Specific professionals”.
  3. Check the professionals who can perform this service.

From that moment on, only the checked professionals appear as an option when a customer books this service.

Step 2: set custom prices and durations

Next to each checked professional, you’ll see two columns:

  • Duration (min): leave it blank to use the service’s duration (for example, 60 min). Enter a different number to customize it (for example, 45 min for a faster professional).
  • Price: same idea — blank = the service’s base price; a value = a custom price.

Concrete example: the service “Women’s haircut” has a base price of PYG 150,000 and a duration of 60 min.

  • You add Ana with no overrides → she charges 150,000, takes 60 min.
  • You add María with a price override of 200,000 → she charges 200,000, takes 60 min.
  • You add Lorena with a duration override of 45 min → she charges 150,000, takes 45 min.
  • You add Carolina with both overrides → she charges and takes whatever you set.
  1. Tap Save.

How it looks to the customer

When a customer books, after choosing the service:

  1. They see the service’s base price on the selection screen.
  2. When they choose a professional with a price override, the price updates to that professional’s price.
  3. If the customer tries to change professionals after choosing a time, the price adjusts automatically.

This is transparent — the customer is never surprised by an unexpected change in the final summary.

How it looks on the calendar

In the internal calendar, each appointment shows:

  • The effective price the customer pays (with the override applied if it applies).
  • The effective duration of the appointment (the professional’s, not the base service’s).

If you filter by professional in analytics, the revenue reflects the actual prices that professional generated.

Real-world use cases

Beauty salons

  • Senior stylist (10 years of experience): charges +30% over the base price.
  • Junior stylist (just graduated): charges -20% to attract new customers.
  • Apprentice: charges -50% while gaining experience.

Barbershops

  • Master barber: does the cut in 25 min with a specialized technique.
  • Standard barber: does the cut in 45 min.

Spas

  • Massage therapist certified in technique X: only they do the X massage.
  • The other massage therapists don’t appear as an option for that service.

Aesthetic clinics

  • Doctor: does the advanced procedures (premium price).
  • Assistant: does the basic procedures (standard price).

Limitations to keep in mind

Limitation Why Workaround
You can’t offer a service “with or without” extras (e.g. cut + wash vs. cut only) using overrides alone The system assumes a fixed service Create two separate services
The customer doesn’t see the percentage discount between professionals Only the final price is shown Clarify it in the service description
Overrides don’t apply to appointments created manually from the calendar The admin chooses the price Note it in the appointment notes

Common errors

Symptom Cause Solution
The customer sees a professional but can’t book with them The professional isn’t on the service’s list Edit the service and add the professional
The customer booked at one price and sees another at checkout You changed the override after the booking The system uses the price from the time of booking
It won’t let me remove a professional from the service They have future bookings with that professional Cancel or reassign the bookings first

What you’ve got now

  • Services assigned to specific professionals instead of the whole team.
  • Custom prices and durations per person.
  • A calendar and reports that reflect the actual values.
